Overview
Shivneri, near Junnar in Pune district, is the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The district administration identifies Badami Talav and the statues of Jijabai and young Shivaji among its landmarks. The fort rewards a visit focused on its history rather than a quick viewpoint stop.
For a day trip, separate the journey to Junnar, the transfer to the fort approach and the walk inside the fort. Arrival in town is not arrival at the memorial. Choose the return transport first, then work backwards to decide how much time your group can spend exploring.

The tourism department describes state transport access to Junnar. Confirm your boarding point, service day and last return with the operating depot. Arrange the Junnar-to-fort leg separately; a bus to town does not establish transport to the entrance.
