About this destinationSindhudurg Fort, located on the scenic Malvan coast, is one of Maharashtra’s most iconic sea forts. Built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the 17th century, the fort stands proudly on an island surrounded by the Arabian Sea.
Designed to safeguard the Maratha Empire’s western coastline from foreign invaders, the fort covers 48 acres. It remains a masterpiece of naval military architecture, featuring massive walls and the world's only temple dedicated to Shivaji Maharaj.
