About this destination

Suvarnadurg Fort, situated off the coast of Harnai in Dapoli taluka, is one of Maharashtra’s most impressive sea forts. Originally built by the Adil Shahi rulers and later strengthened by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the fort symbolized Maratha naval strength.

The fort, whose name means 'Golden Fort', once served as a key defense post for the Maratha Navy under Kanhoji Angre. Its scenic island location and surrounding blue waters make it a must-visit heritage spot in Konkan.
