Overview
About this destinationThe Ballaleshwar Temple at Pali in Raigad district is one of the eight revered Ashtavinayak shrines dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It holds the unique distinction of being the only temple named after a devotee — Ballal.
According to legend, Lord Ganesha appeared before the young devotee Ballal to bless him for his unwavering faith and declared that He would henceforth be worshipped here as 'Ballaleshwar'.
Built in traditional Peshwa-era architecture, the temple faces east so that the morning sun's first rays illuminate the idol — symbolizing divine enlightenment and wisdom.
Nestled between the Amba River and scenic hills, Pali is a serene pilgrimage spot visited by thousands of devotees throughout the year.
